If the “oxygen” necessary for America’s “life” is even remotely related to the way Abraham Lincoln described it at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on November 19, 1863, then an Ole Seagull would have to answer “Yes.” In concluding his speech that day Lincoln said, “…that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
That short two minute speech has become one of the most famous cherished speeches in the history of our nation. One can only wonder how famous or cherished it would be if instead it had ended by saying, “… that this nation, without God, shall have a new birth of control and that government of the federal judicial system, by the federal judicial system and for the federal judicial system, shall not perish from the earth?”
Ironically, over 25 years before on January 27, 1838, a young 28 year old Lincoln described what could cause that “nation” to “perish from the earth.” He said, “At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”
In an Ole Seagull’s opinion, our great Nation, at least the one our Forefathers, Lincoln and the first 100 years of its history testified to, is committing suicide. As a people, we are displacing the very “oxygen” necessary to sustain its life, God, individual freedom, and “a government of the people, by the people, for the people” with the “carbon dioxide” of no God, increasing federal control and a government of the federal judicial system, by the federal judicial system and for the federal judicial system.. Comparatively speaking, whether an individual or a nation, when there is enough of a displacement of oxygen with carbon dioxide, the result is death.
“But Seagull, isn’t suicide ‘the act of taking your own life voluntarily and intentionally? How do you transition from ‘death’ to ‘suicide?'” In recent days, there’s been media coverage about individuals using an “Exit Bag” to commit suicide. Basically the bag goes over the head and is fastened closed at the bottom. Although there are variations using sedatives or inert gases such as helium, death results when the oxygen is displaced with carbon dioxide. If the bag were simply placed over the head without fastening it closed, although probably not the best thing, typically there would be no death.
For our Nation, our Forefathers, having no way of knowing how the constitution would be prostituted by the 14th amendment and its subsequent interpretation by the very federal judicial system they created, placed the unfastened “Exit Bag” of a federal judicial system, appointed for life with absolutely no responsibility to the governed, over the head of the Nation they had just created. It hung there innocuously until the passage of the 14th amendment in 1868 when it began to be gradually drawn shut depriving America of the very oxygen that it needed to survive as it was founded.
A perfect example of how much of America’s oxygen has been displaced was reported by Fox News this week. The report explained how Chief U.S. District Judge Fred Biery prohibited the Medina Valley Independent School District in Texas, from using specific religious words including “prayer,” “amen,” or saying ““in [a deity’s name] we pray” in their graduation ceremony. According to the report he also “ordered the school district to remove the terms ‘invocation’ and ‘benediction’ from the graduation program” and to replace them with the terms “opening remarks” and “closing remarks.” He ordered that his ruling be “enforced by incarceration or other sanctions for contempt of Court if not obeyed by District official (sic) and their agents.”
“But Seagull, how’s that suicide, isn’t it the federal judicial system that is killing us?” “Oh, it’s the federal judicial system displacing the oxygen that breathed the greatness into our Nation with the debilitating carbon dioxide of control and Godlessness, but it is our voluntary apathy and failure to act, as a people, to correct the situation that is drawing the cord tight on the bag with its eventual result.
