America is being invaded by illegal aliens who are not only violating the laws of this country upon illegal entry and otherwise after entering the country, but believe their desire for what they want gives them the right to do whatever they want to get it. That it might cause injury, suffering or be a detriment to U.S. Citizens and others legally in America and that they have not earned the right to the majority of the economic benefits they might receive, in terms of social aid, education, etc., doesn’t appear to matter one IOTA to them; all that matters is what they want.
Abraham Lincoln asked, “At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years.”
An “invasion” has been defined as “the incoming or spread of something usually hurtful.” Can any reasonable person deny that there is a spread of incoming illegal aliens coming into America from Mexico? No one knows exactly how many, but the low figure is 11 million. If that figure is like most other government figures used when the government wants to take the money of those taxpayers who are still working or who have earned a benefit and redistribute it to others, primarily to get votes and maintain power, they are grossly understated.
“Hurtful” is defined as “causing injury, detriment, or suffering.” The Ole Seagull has heard the refrain, “They just want a better life for themselves and their families.” Does that give them the right to invade our country in violation of our laws and receive the economic benefits of citizenship to the detriment or injury of U.S. Citizens or those in the country legally. At the very least isn’t that a “detriment” to a system of government based on respect for the law?
Why should one 10 year old citizen of the United States have to have their education impacted negatively because the educational system is using resources to educate the children of illegal aliens? Why should American taxpayers have to pay for the medical care or other social benefits for the very illegal aliens that are invading our country? For what it’s worth, an Ole Seagull’s believes “the only benefits an illegal alien should receive are those necessary and directly connected with providing the health care, sustenance, and travel assistance necessary to send them back where they came from as quickly as possible.”
Does anyone truly believe that the people of Arizona and their legislature passed the comprehensive new immigration law they passed because illegal aliens were not, in the very least, perceived as a detriment in Arizona? The preamble to the law states, “The provisions of this act are intended to work together to discourage and deter the unlawful entry and presence of aliens and economic activity by persons unlawfully present in the United States.”
Lincoln concluded his statement by saying, “At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”
Permitting illegal aliens to continue coming into this country or to remain after entering illegally, in the opinion of an Ole Seagull, widens the socioeconomic divide that already exists and exasperates its problems further. By not stopping and reversing the flow of illegal immigration, particularly over our southern borders, America is committing suicide just as surely as a person who uses a hose and the carbon monoxide from a car to do so.
The passage of the Arizona Law and the friction caused by its passage illustrates the wide divisiveness that illegal aliens have caused in this country. Our Lord and Savior said, “Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself will not stand.” In terms of what is actually happening, Lincoln’s warning, “If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher,” almost seem prophetic.
